DESCRIPTION:Snowshoe Excursion: Winter Travel & Fur Trade Stories \nStep outside and explore the history of winter travel during this guided Snowshoe Excursion at the Roseau Pioneer Village. Participants will learn about traditional snowshoe designs\, how snowshoes were used by Indigenous peoples\, and the role winter travel played in the fur trade and daily life in the North. \nEach hour\, the tour begins with brief storytelling and historical context\, followed by a guided half-mile snowshoe excursion. Excursions start on the hour throughout the day\, from 10 am – 2 pm. Snowshoes are provided\, and guides will share stories and insights along the way. \nThis outdoor program is family-friendly\, easy to follow\, and open to all experience levels. \n\nThis is a free event.\nThere is no sign-up required.\nDress for the weather and be prepared to enjoy winter from a historical perspective.

Through stories rooted in regional and Scandinavian traditions\, Filley shares funny family memories\, true tales of immigrants and their descendants\, and familiar experiences tied to heritage\, faith\, and community. \nWith warmth and wit\, this engaging program is easy to follow and enjoyable for all ages. Audiences will laugh\, learn\, and recognize pieces of their own lives reflected in the stories. \nFree and open to all ages! \nScandinavian treats will be served\, along with Sannes Coffee Co.\, which will offer samples of its coffee. They will also have coffee to purchase that evening. \nThis program is being held in conjunction with the Roseau Winterfest and sponsored by the Roseau CVB.
