Up Home was compiled by the Roseau Area Writers Workshop for the Roseau Area Friends of the Library, printed in 1994 & 1995. It is a combination of Roseau County writing, art, and music put into a 197 book.
This book is free at the museum, but $3.00 online to cover shipping costs. It is also available at the Roseau Public Library.
In 1993, Roseau Area Friends of the Library decided to recognize the 1995 Centennial of Roseau County and the City of Roseau by celebrating the creativity of area residents past and present.
Immediately we began prospecting for treasure in the form of original writings, are and music created by folks who have lived and worked in Roseau County sometime during the first century. Our search was fascinating. We found silver, gold and precious unpolished gems as well as a few ordinary stones, in other works — great variety of interesting and original songs, drawing and pose, both imaginative and factual…
…Compiling ” Up Home..” has stimulated in us a heartfelt appreciation for our heritage. We hope and pray that reading this anthology, published in celebration of the Centennial of Rosau COunty and the City of Roseau (1895-1995) will strengthen such appreciation in every reader.
We also hope that publication of this book will encourage area writers, artists, and composers to continue their efforts, will cause readers to appreciate the creativity of people around them and will stimulate many more people to polish their creative abilities…
Preparing this anthology has most certainly increased our appreciation for the generous and talented people of the land this Roseau County!
