Pequot Lakes Author, Candace Simar, to speak at Roseau City Center

Meal served at 6 pm by Roseau County Historical Society & Roseau Sons of Norway Nordlys Lodge. Suggested $8 donation for the meal.

Meet Minnesota author and poet, Candace Simar, on September 13 at Roseau City Center at 7 pm. Simar, author of Shelterbelts, Farm Girls and  the Spur Award-winning Abercrombie Trail Series:  Abercrombie Trail, Pomme de Terre,  Birdie and Blooming Prairie.  Simar writes historical novels about Scandinavian immigrants in frontier Minnesota during the 1862 Dakota Conflict and the following years..  Shelterbelts is the story of a rural Minnesota community at the close of WW2.   She will give a short reading and speak about her research and writing.  Her books will be available for purchase.

Larry McMurtry, Pulitzer Prize winning author of Lonesome Dove, said “I read Pomme De Terre with the greatest interest and enjoyment.  It’s a very vivid telling of this tragic American story.  I’ve long been wanting something in fiction about the Great Sioux Uprising, and this book is the best I’ve seen.”

For additional information regarding Candace Simar and her novels, please visit www.candacesimar.com.  Simar’s books are available at bookstores, on-line and as e-books, large print and audio.

Two sisters (Candace Simar and Angela Foster), reminisce in poetry and prose as they return to the family farm and share the triumphs and trials of their immigrant forbears on Lakeland Public Television’s Common Ground
