Request for Volunteer Job Hires
Shelving Project Volunteer
The museum is getting new shelving this year, 2024. We are searching for 16 volunteers to dedicate time to this large project. This project will take some time, and your help will be called upon throughout the project, which is estimated to last 40 weeks. There will be many gaps where volunteers will not be needed in that timeframe. The qualified volunteer must be detail-oriented, able to follow directions and use those directions to work in a small group. Must be able to bend, lift, and carry up to 30 lbs. Any larger objects will be team lifts. Along with the ability to move items, we are looking for people with general computer skills to input information.
Volunteer process general process and thoughts:
- Gather 16 volunteers
- One-day of training, moving plan, proper handling, and paperwork trails. (5 hours)
- One-day of working together moving large items (5-6 hours)
- Break into groups of four. Each group of four will coordinate days and times they can work to move items out of the storage area. (March-May)
- One-day training on what, where, and how items go back into storage (5-6 hours)
- Small groups will coordinate days and times they can work to move items into storage (July-September)
