Snowshoe Excursion: Winter Travel & Fur Trade Stories
Step outside and explore the history of winter travel during this guided Snowshoe Excursion at the Roseau Pioneer Village. Participants will learn about traditional snowshoe designs, how snowshoes were used by Indigenous peoples, and the role winter travel played in the fur trade and daily life in the North.
Each hour, the tour begins with brief storytelling and historical context, followed by a guided half-mile snowshoe excursion. Excursions start on the hour throughout the day, from 10 am – 2 pm. Snowshoes are provided, and guides will share stories and insights along the way.
This outdoor program is family-friendly, easy to follow, and open to all experience levels.
