Get ready for the 2024 Light Up The Museum event at the Roseau County Museum! The Indoor Tree Walk has been rebranded as Light Up The Museum, a tree decorating contest and viewing. The competition is open to everyone, including individuals, friends, family, groups, organizations, businesses, and more. The goal is to bring creativity and imagination to decorate a tree at the museum. You can use traditional decorations like snowflakes, candy canes, angels, and antique ornaments, or think outside the box with unique items like model airplanes, toys, homemade décor, hockey sticks, and more. People who visit the museum during the event will be able to vote monetarily on their favorite trees. All proceeds will go to the Roseau County Museum for future exhibits. Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three voted trees.
If you’re interested in participating, you can use one of the museum’s artificial trees and lights, or bring your own. The registration deadline is November 15, and trees must be decorated by November 23. After November 15, please call to check availability.
The event opens on November 25 with a program and catered meal, featuring a performance by Fallcreek, a renowned quartet. The catered meal has a suggested $20 donation per plate, and reservations are recommended. The museum will be open for visitors to view the trees from 5-8 pm on opening night. Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite trees by placing a monetary donation in boxes by the trees. Voting will continue through December 20, and the top three voted trees will win a cash prize. All proceeds from the voting boxes will support the Roseau County Historical Society’s mission.
The Roseau County Museum is located in the Roseau City Center and will have special holiday hours on Saturdays from December 7 – 21. The event is open to individuals, friends, businesses, groups, churches, and anyone interested in participating. Completed forms should be returned to the museum, submitted via email, or emailed to rchsroseau@gmail.com by November 15. After November 15, please call to check availability. There is a $10 entry fee for participation, payable when setting up your tree. All trees decorations must be removed by January 3, and decorating can start on November 12.
