Coming to Roseau!
The History Theatre of St. Paul is bringing their hit musical SISTERS OF SWING: THE STORY OF THE ANDREWS SISTERS to the Roseau School Theater on Sunday, April 23 at 7:00 p.m. This musical follows sisters LaVerne, Maxene, and Patty Andrews from their start in Mound, Minnesota, through their rise as recording stars to entertaining American GI’s overseas during WWII. The sisters are still heralded as the most successful female American singing group in the first half of the 20th century, with more Top Ten hits than the Beatles or Elvis.
This unique performance features the incredible talents of Cat Brindisi, Katie Hahn, and Jen Burleigh-Bentz as the Andrews Sisters, and the witty Jake Endres, who plays Lou Levy, Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby. Many people may remember actress/singer Jen Burleigh-Bentz who starred in Roseau Area Arts Association’s production of ‘Chicago’ in 2011.
This is a unique opportunity for the audience to enjoy a professional theater production that has charmed sold-out audiences in over 30 cities and worldwide. Roseau Area Arts Association and the Roseau County Historical Society are co-sponsoring the show.
County residents are encouraged to help create a Wall of Heroes display during the show by contributing World War II era pictures, stories, letters, and memorabilia items. The Roseau County Museum will be fabricating the exhibit. All items can be brought to the museum by Friday, April 21st. Items will be reproduced (if possible) and returned. For more information, please contact the museum at 463-1918.
Tickets will be on sale at the door one hour before the show. All seats are $12.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
