Listen to the Weekly Radio Readings by Sheila Winstead, RCHS Board Member
Recorded July 2017
July 2 Last week I read from a 100-year-old edition of the Greenbush Tribune. In that same paper was an informative column on how to wash blankets. It starts with the following heading: Operation Takes Time if Good Work is Wanted. Warm water, Ammonia, and White Soap is Recommended – Articles must on no account be subject to Rubbing.
July 9 Norbert Dostal of rural Badger wrote a personal account called “The Changing Times on the Farm Scene, 1910 – 1986” which contains this story about cows and the work they involved. Mr. Dostal’s story can be found at the Roseau County Museum in the research area.
July 16 Talks about the happenings at RCHS fair building.
July 23 Audio coming soon Malung, Sweden; Malung, Minnesota –two towns with more in common than the identical names. A. M. Pearson, the first postmaster, decided that the identity of the folks in the area could best be retained by naming the town in the “new country” after the one they knew in the “old country”.
July 30 Old schools in Malung, Minnesota.
